Greetings!
Welcome to the first ever Melinda McCaw Media newsletter! We have been busy growing and are excited to tell you what we have been up to! We relocated to Grand Junction, CO about 5 years ago now and have 1 full time designer/developer as well as a part time developer to meet the needs of our clients.
New clients
As part of this newsletter we will be welcoming new clients and we would like to extend a warm welcome to Duffley Development! We will be providing a redesign, new graphics and layout, as well as a customized backend to the website that will allow for easy content changes. We look forward to featuring Duffley’s new site in our new sites section soon.
New websites!
The new Gates Concrete Forming Systems website just went live and we are excited to share it with you! We completely redesigned the look and feel of their website. Along with changing the look and feel, the site has gone from a static html site on shared hosting to a brand new responsive WordPress website hosted on an NGINX server! Ok so you may have heard about WordPress but what is an NGINX server? In a nutshell this is a way to deliver content faster to your clients, as well as keep your site more secure than on shared hosting. Interested in more information? Contact us about moving your site.
New Services We Offer
We are excited to announce that we now offer web hosting as a service. It is not your typical shared hosting either, but a cloud hosting platform with an NGINX server. This hosting offers more security and drastically decreases page load time over typical shared hosting plans. Contact us for more information on this service.
Tip of the Month
Update your WordPress Website
In order to provide our customers with easily updateable websites, we develop on the WordPress platform. So chances are that you have a WordPress website. WordPress is like most other software packages and requires that you update it. These updates include things like new functionality and security patches. While it is not necessarily imperative that you do every update immediately it is a good idea to keep your site up to date on a regular basis.
Ok so you have decided to update your site, let’s talk about the steps that are required to accomplish this. The first step in any upgrade process is always to make sure that you have a restore point before you start. This means that you should work on backing up your site, and your database before you start your update. The second step is to initiate the update. The third step is to check all of your plugins for potential updates as well as conflicts caused by the upgrade. Once these issues have been addressed this step is complete and you have successfully upgraded your site.
Not something you want to deal with? Or something you would like us to help you thru the first time? Give us a call or email us. We can help you address your update needs.
We love referrals!
If you know someone who could benefit from our services please pass our contact info to them.
