Girls Weekend

Being  that it was just the girls for the weekend my daughter and I decided to have a low key weekend at home. We don’t get many of those during the year. Work and life has been crazy busy, bordering on insane for the last month so this sounded good to me. It didn’t hurt that the snow hasn’t been piling up at the resorts to tempt us either. With low snow totals there hasn’t been much to tempt us to go skiing so far this season. Ice skating was part of the weekends plan.

The weekend started out slow and low key. We enjoyed a relaxing lunch with friends on Saturday and made it out for a short, easy hike late that afternoon. Then enjoyed dinner with the same friends that evening. The big plan for the weekend was to go ice skating Sunday afternoon.

Lazy Sunday

Sunday morning came. I checked the snow report for Aspen/Snowmass. It was looking up. They had 8″ of fresh powder however the base was still not very deep. Feeling tired and needing a break we decided to stick to our plan of ice skating. I spent the morning puttering around cleaning the house still in my PJ’s. We had a great time cleaning while listening to music and working on art projects.

Ice Skating Time!

Finally after lunch we changed into our warm clothes and headed to the ice rink. A grand time was had skating in circles on the ice and taking breaks to warm up and share some chocolate treats I brought along. It was awesome to skate with my daughter and show her a few tips on skating. Seeing her quickly learn and get better each time we circled the rink was the best feeling.

Skating came to an end and we enjoyed an evening of watching When Calls the Heart and playing card games. We didn’t accomplish very much this weekend, and that is great! It was really nice to relax and spend time with family and friends. This is an important part of life. If you spend all of your time working for the next dollar you will miss out on life completely and what is most important.
