Ski Adventure Finally!
Have you ever just had an itch to go participate in a certain activity but couldn’t because the right conditions didn’t exist? That has been our family for the last 6 weeks. There seems to be a snow drought in Colorado and Utah so far this season. Typically we start our ski season on Thanksgiving weekend. But not this year.
Last Friday after a long wait my daughter and I decided we could wait no longer. We researched to find the mountain with the most snow (which wasn’t much). It was between Snowmass and Monarch Mountain. Snowmass is a favorite, especially on a good powder day. We had never been to Monarch Mountain to ski. Since we wanted to save our ski days at Snowmass for a powder day we decided we would go explore Monarch Mountain.
Ski Monarch Mountain
Arriving at Monarch Mountain we found it to be a cool little resort. It isn’t so big and commercialized. And there are no long lines to wait in. The vibe is more laid back, grassroots and fun. We had a great time exploring several of the ski runs and spent time enjoying the lodge when taking lunch and other breaks. It was a beautiful blue bird day.
The terrain was fun and I saw some terrain that really looked fun and challenging. That terrain wasn’t open yet due to lack of snow. I will definitely be back to check it out when they have more snow. If you haven’t skied Monarch Mountain I highly recommend it. Just check the snow report first to make sure there is decent snow coverage. 🙂
